BACK TO NEPAL ☺

It has been several months yet, before turning back to Nepal. I am now since a few days in the colorful and emblematic capital of Nepal, Kathmandu to prepare, with Norbu, our Expeditions to two Giants of the Himalaya: Shishapangma (8013m) and Cho Oyu (8201m)!! Both of them are situated on the Tibetan side of the Himalayan chain. 

The days are busy with packing all the material, the food and with dealing with all the necessary formalities, but also with working on a solution to get from Kathmandu till the Tibetan border. Several days ago, a huge landslide created a very big lake, covering more than 30 houses, bringing a real tragedy in some families lives…After, the tragedy on Everest last Spring, which has caused 16 deaths among the Sherpa people, this is one more sad episode for Nepal. We are thinking of all these families, which have to face with the consequences of such incidents in their daily life. This is also the reason why we have created an association to support the wives, and especially their kids, of the dead Sherpas, the true heroes of the Himalaya (www.wildyakexpeditions.com/Help-Butterfly), the kids being like innocent and beautiful butterflies. 

Coming back to Kathmandu, I am looking forward, in the name of Wild Yak Expeditions, to sharing with you my next challenge in the Himalaya☺ 

DE RETOUR AU NEPAL ☺ 

Après plusieurs mois, me voici de retour au Népal! Ces jours, je me trouve à Katmandou, la ville aux milles couleurs et odeurs, la capitale emblématique du Népal. Nous sommes, avec Norbu, actuellement en train d’organiser toute la logistique pour les prochaines expéditions sur deux Géants de l’Himalaya: Shishapangma (8013m) et Cho Oyu (8201m)!! Les deux sommets se trouvent sur le côté tibétain de la chaine Himalayenne. 

Les journées sont pleinement remplies: entre l’organisation de toute la logistique, l’emballage délicat de la nourriture pour un groupe d’une dizaine de personnes pour une durée de 6 semaines, mais également avec la partie plus officielle concernant toutes les formalités nécessaires pour ces expéditions. Cependant, pour le moment, une de nos principales préoccupations reste la question de savoir comment nous allons rejoindre avec tout le materiel la frontière tibétaine. Il y peu de temps, un important glissement de terrain forma un grand lac soutenu par un barrage naturel d’une hauteur de près de 100m, engloutissant une trentaine de maisons…une vraie tragédie pour de nombreuses familles. Après le tragique incident à l’Everest au mois d’avril dernier, causant la mort de 16 Sherpas, nous avons eu à cœur de créer avec Norbu une association pour venir en aide aux épouses, tout particulièrement aux enfants des vrais Héros de l’Himalaya, afin de leur permettre de continuer leur scolarité (voir Help-Butterfly Project sous www.wildyakexpeditions.com), les enfants étant comme de petits papillons innocents.
