Wednesday, August 26 Today we left NYALAM a fter one day of acclimatization to reach a pass 5000m above sea level to reach TINGRI were we expect to spend a very nice last hotel night before days and days under a tent. Tomorrow, we will reach MT EVEREST'S Base Camp, 5200m. above sea level. Since we arrived on Chinese territory, we only had Chinese food. In two Days we shall reach Shishapangma Base camp and meet our cook. A traditional Nepalese Dal Bhat

Mount Cho-Oyu 8201 meters, 2016, Never give up!!

After having been challenged last year with the devastating earthquake in Nepal, we are ready, once again, excited, curious, but a little bit nervous as we board the plane to Lhasa for our 2016 Wild Yak Expeditions Big Adventure. The aim is to climb Mount Cho-Oyu at 8201 meters, followed by Mount Everest at 8848 meters. Before heading to the Big Mountains, Sherpa's and high altitude workers always give high priority to visit some of the monasteries that are important to them to be blessed by the High monk. This kind of spiritual practice gives a certain confidence to the Sherpa’s to climb the high mountains of the Himalayas. Nowadays, the majority of western climbers also follow in the steps of the Sherpa’s to be blessed before climbing the highest mountains on earth, whether they believe it or not a certain energy pulls them towards the rituals. More than 6hours of driving by bus in the heat and humidity of the lower lands of the Kathmandu region with more than 900kilos of equipment for our exedition to Himlung Himal (7126m), we arrived after three days of hiking to our last stop before reaching the base camp. From 800 meters altitude till 2500, we have crossed beautiful landscapes. The waterfalls are flowing to the rivers with lots of power due to the rain season, the fields and rocks are covered by a bright green carpet and the flowers are lightening the whole atmosphere. The pesticides and other toxic products haven't reached the region, amazing butterflies are dancing around us along the way and the local people are always welcoming us with their friendly manners. From tomorrow on, the Adventure will start direction base camp of Himlung! Further news and pictures will follow... Namaste!
